I have had very little trouble with this printer even when we upgraded computers to XP and then Vista. Printer has both USB and parallel printer connections which helps with some older computers. Toner cartridges and parts are largely interchangable between the 12 so I only have to keep a small backup set of supplies. You can now buy these printers dirt cheap as people upgrade their systems (printers are cheaper than the toner cartridges).
Overall it is a CHAMP for the money for typical printing needs. The only drawbacks to this printer are that it is not really fast, and it is not the best printer to use if you are printing on cardstock (tends to jam or mis-allign) or odd size paper. Buy the high capacity cartridge when replacing toner and it will last forever in normal home or light office use. I salvaged the drum, paper tray, pow er cord, and toner cartridge from the one that broke, and junked the rest.
